Bacteriologist. Worked with Pasteur on the development of vaccines and was manager of the Budapest, Vienna and Moscow branches of the Pasteur Institute. Arrived in Sydney in 1911 as the Institute's representative, and later founded Ray's Vaccine Institute. He developed and distributed serum for the alleviation of many livestock diseases and wrote papers and pamphlets championing vaccination and the use of Pasteur's methods.
